对从国外运入的货物予以保税（免关税、免增值税和免批文），货主只需付运费、码头费、装卸费和仓租等物流费用；
可整入散出或散入整出；
可转运至国外其国家或地区（免关税、免增值税和免批文）；
可申报进口运入国内（如是一般贸易则需交纳关税和增值税，如是加工贸易则免关税和免增值税）；
国内货物可申报出口入保税仓视同出境，对于加工贸易项下出口复进口货物（港澳一日游货物），则可节省物流成本。
保税仓的仓库租金、装卸费等物流费用远低于国外，可将确定或有意要销往中国华南地区货物的库存转移到广州保税仓库；
保税仓可进行商业性简单加工，如货物分类、分装、包装、挑选、贴商标、刷麦头等；
货物存储期没有限制。
